The Faculty of Engineering is one of the founding faculties of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), established in 1991 and renamed from the Faculty of Industrial Technology in 2019. It comprises five departments offering Bachelor of Engineering Honours degrees in Chemical Engineering, Civil and Water Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering. The Faculty also provides postgraduate pathways leading to Master of Engineering, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy qualifications. Guided by Zimbabwe’s Education 5.0 philosophy, the Faculty is committed to delivering high-quality teaching, impactful research, community engagement, innovation, and business development. Over the years, it has grown significantly in student enrolment, staffing, and research output, with work published in leading scientific and engineering journals. The Faculty prioritizes heritage-based, locally driven solutions to national engineering challenges, while also contributing to regional and global technological development. Through ongoing partnerships with industry, municipalities, and national institutions, the Faculty actively participates in consultancy, applied research, and community-focused engineering initiatives. Its graduates and researchers continue to shape solutions across multiple engineering fields, reinforcing the Faculty’s role as a centre for innovation, relevance, and excellence.
